SPEAKER QUESTIONS
I was browsing your website and saw that you interned with Dr Kalish, who was a previous guest on our show, and someone that I am a huge fan of! Tell us how you got started in this field?
One of the first times I heard you was on the Candida Summit with Evan Brand. Candida is something we talk about a lot on the show, and recently we’ve received a few questions about Small Intenstin Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBL) which has a lot of the same symptoms of Candida. How can we know the difference in the two?
Your website is awesome, you have a ton of resources, so I want to make sure our listeners can find you at justinhealth.com. Tell us about what else you offer, how can we get in touch with you, and what kind of consults do you provide?
Before we get started with listener questions, something I always like to ask our guests is to walk us through a typical day in your life. What did you eat yesterday? Our podcast started out talking about Intermittent Fasting, is this something that you do? When do you typically eat?
LISTENER QUESTIONS
Q1 - 07:43
I’ve been eating 90% clean and sticking with a 6 hour eating window consistently. I haven’t been drinking alcohol very much, but I have several Christmas parties in the next couple weeks and I want to cut loose, but not ruin the good results I am seeing. When I have a couple glasses of wine here and there I can’t believe how puffy it makes me feel almost immediately! What are some of the “better” drinks I should order? And what is your opinion on drinking in general when I am working towards a healthy lifestyle?
- Kate in Kansas City
Q2 - 10:56
You’ve touched on Red light therapy in previous podcasts, and I feel like it is popping up everywhere! My local tanning salon has a red light therapy chamber, and another friend of mine just ordered a single bulb that she hangs above her face. Do you think there is really something to this, or is it just another fad?

Q4 - 14:00
I was having some terrible pain in my knee when I worked out, so I went to the doctor and he told me I am developing arthritis in my right knee. I always thought arthritis affected older people with an unhealthy lifestyle and was really disappointed to hear this. I don’t want to completely stop working out all together, but I also don’t want to make it worse. What should I be doing to remain active, but also to prevent this from worsening? Also, what is the difference in rheumatoid arthritis and what I am experiencing? Could my knee issue develop into rheumatoid arthritis in other places in my body?
- Rachel in Nevada
Q5 - 17:43
A couple podcasts back, your guest mentioned that I should be pooping one time for every time that I eat. I am typically eating two hours per day in a 6 hour eating window, but I am lucky to poop one time per day, at the MOST! What are some things that I can be doing to get more regular movements, and should I really be concerned with going two times per day?
- Anonymous
Q6 - 20:19
I used to get migraines as a teenager, a couple times a year…really bad ones that made me vomit. I didn’t have them for over ten years, but in the past 6 months, I’ve had atleast 6 of them. They are so bad that I can’t function, or do anything besides lay there and wait for them to pass, I can’t even sleep. I went to the doctor to get checked out and they can’t find anything wrong with me that would explain them coming back. What could have caused them to disappear and come back suddenly? I am paranoid that something is really wrong, and I can’t afford to miss out on anymore work or life.
- Tina in South Carolina
Q7 - 23:20
My husband had a check up, and found out that he had high levels of ferritin. This was the first time I ever heard of this. I understand it is somehow related to iron but I am struggling to understand the connection and the difference. Is this something he should be concerned with?
- Crystal in Augusta
Q8 - 24:28
Lately my periods have been really really strong and I went to the doctor recently and found out that my iron levels are low, and my estrogen levels are high. I’ve tried taking iron supplements but they all seem to make me really constipated. How can I address these iron issues without being constipated! Are there other supplements you recommend, or foods I should focus on? I have a blood drive coming up at my work and I am really hesitant to give blood until I can get my iron under control. A friend told me that when you give blood it encourages your body to make more, but she is not a doctor, and I want to be sure I am taking all the right steps.

Q10 - 30:41
I’ve always struggled with getting my water in each day. I heard once that I should be drinking half my body weight in ounces of water. Usually I start off my day really slow, and find myself chugging towards the end of the day to get it all in. The other day, my trainer told me that chugging isn’t good because my body doesn’t absorb the water as well that way. He said that I should sip on it and even move it around in my mouth. This is the first time I’ve ever heard anything like this. Is there any truth behind it? Is it pointless to drink water if I am chugging it down?
